Undefeated 13-0

It was the season of 2004, our senior year, the year we really wanted to make a name for Pomperaug Football... the year we wanted to win it all. The Hand game last year was brutal to say the least. It was a different team, different experience, and a different year. The season ended with a bad loss to Hand and the fourth semifinal loss for Pomperaug in the past few years. Four days after the game, we hit the weight room. Day after day doing bench, squats, inclines, farmer walks, flys, scrullcrushers, and everything in between. We wanted it from the start, there would be a couple dozen people in that old shack for two hours a day - thinking State Championship, rep after rep. I could write forever about all the things we did, the bonds we made, the one heartbeat and the link. The work we did for each other and with each other was something that can't be replaced or forgotten. Hard work and preparation were Coach's ideals, Coach Drury was the best coach any of us could ever ask for, and it was great winning it with him and the rest of the coaching staff. Coach said "Luck is when preparation meets opportunity." We prepared, we made the opportunity, and we crushed everyone in our way. If I try to thank everybody I know I'll forget somebody.. so I'm just going to say, everyone that was a part of Pomperaug Football this year: from pizza, to the video, to pictures, to the sign, to everything you did for us... thank you, and its not possible to explain our thanks and gratitude for what you've done for us this year.

To my teammates: Hit the weights, right now. Go there today, go there tomorrow, go everyday. Make yourself better every day like Coach says, you never stay the same... you either get better or worse. Follow his words, work hard, and bring home another one in 2005. Captains Kyer the Crow, Ruboppin Sharkey, Jager Houser, and Don't Stopalas... keep the tradition.. and DONT STOP.

To the seniors: this has been the most incredible season of our lives. It has been a pleasure and great learning experience spending the past four years with you guys, and it will be a 4 years I know I will never forget. Keep the jokes alive, this season will go down in history. Pomperaug Football 2004, The Perfect Season.
